Everything You Need to Know

COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) for a physical product company is the total direct cost to produce and deliver one unit of your product to your warehouse or fulfilment centre. It includes raw materials, manufacturing or assembly labour, packaging (boxes, bags, labels, inserts), inbound freight from supplier to warehouse, and import duties or tariffs. COGS does NOT include marketing spend, employee salaries outside of production, or rent. Knowing your exact COGS per unit is the foundation of healthy unit economics.
